Citrusy Green Smoothie

Smoothies are my favourite way of ensuring that I have my daily intake of healthy fruits and veggies. I wanted to have a smoothie rich in vitamins and drinking it made me feel like I am feeding my body such goodness. The weather here down under is colder and as such it is a good time to load up with some extra vitamin c and other nutrients. This smoothie has just five ingredients – two fruits and 2 greens with milk. I love banana and they are such a good addition to any smoothie, in addition to the health benefits, … Continue reading Citrusy Green Smoothie

Nutritious Oat and Nut Bars

I love a filling and healthy bar that can be eaten for a quick and filling breakfast or a snack. This bar is filled with healthy goodness such as nuts (walnuts) seeds (pumpkin and sunflower), some fruit (banana) and some dried fruit (Raisins) The walnuts add a lovely crunch, packed with nutrients such as monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids and helps keep you fuller for longer. The raisins are packed with energy, full of fibre, vitamins, minerals and they add that lovely natural sweetness. Although they are rich in calories, eaten in moderate amounts is good for health. Healthy Low Carb Carrot Walnut Loaf

This loaf is super healthy and delicious. Great for breakfast or a snack and its tastes amazing with a smear of butter on it. This can also be made into muffins. The addition of the yoghurt gives that lovely moist consistency and the butter can be completely eliminated but I find the addition of that bit of butter does add to the flavour. Honey completely replacing the need for any refined sugar making it so much healthier. And the addition of almond flour reduces the amount of plain flour needed making this lower in carb content. This is a healthy … Continue reading Healthy Low Carb Carrot Walnut Loaf

I know that for those living in cooler parts of the world, having a cold smoothie may not be what you are feeling right now. But before we here in Australia head into cooler weather, I am making use of the beautiful sunshine and warmer weather. And this smoothie is a very tasty and refreshing drink that is ideal for warmer weather. This is one of those smoothies that is not much to look at but tastes so so yum. It is quick to make, great for a quick breakfast or an after-school filler. It just needs four ingredients – … Continue reading Watermelon Banana Smoothie

Pumpkin Loaf

Although thanksgiving is not an Australian celebration, I still love making recipes that incorporate pumpkin around this time. A few years ago, my neighbours were from America and they introduced me to a lot of thanksgiving foods and so I always think about making some pumpkin related recipes around this time in memory of the wonderful time I had with them. Homemade pumpkin bread has become a family favourite. It is so easy to make and is packed with pumpkin flavour. I have always made this using homemade pumpkin puree. I use butternut pumpkin which is chopped up and cooked … Continue reading Pumpkin Loaf

Easy Low Carb Almond Loaf

This is a healthy, quick and easy Almond Loaf. I use almond meal instead of plain flour which reduces the carb content and I use honey instead of sugar, making it so much healthier. If you are new to low-carb baking, using almond meal is quite easy to begin with. But you have to remember that unlike regular flour, almond flour does not hold its structure as well because of the absence of gluten. The eggs added provide that structure, air for fluffiness and some protein as well. I have not used any butter or oil in it. I wanted … Continue reading Easy Low Carb Almond Loaf

Scrumptious Stuffed Omelette

This easy to make fluffy and filling omelette is great for breakfast or brunch. This recipe is ideal if you want to cut down on carbs as it is quite filling on its own and you can skip on eating bread along with it. I made this after church on Sunday for brunch and my son ‘inhaled’ his meal with a glass of milk. I had mine at a more sedate and civilised pace with a lovely cup of tea. Filled with red onions, green peppers and any left-over meat or sausages adds amazing flavour to this dish. You can … Continue reading Scrumptious Stuffed Omelette

Tropical Smoothie Bowl

This smoothie bowl is refreshing and will brighten your day. It is a wonderful combination of fruits, is simple to make and so tasty. I used mango, pineapple and papaya. The combination of the mango and pineapple is absolutely amazing, giving that fresh fruity flavour. Papaya is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants and full of fibre, it boosts your immunity and is great for the skin. You can either buy them separately and cube and freeze them for later use or buy the pre-cut and packaged variety from the freezer section in your grocery store. I also added ½ … Continue reading Tropical Smoothie Bowl

Strawberry Banana Date Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are a great healthy option for breakfast. They are easy to make and so yum. You do not want your smoothie bowl to be too thin in consistency. The frozen strawberries and bananas give a thick and creamy texture. The dates add a hint of sweetness, they were soaked in hot water for about 5 mins to soften them up and that way they blend easily. The rolled oats add thickness and help you stay fuller for longer. Strawberries are healthy and rich in vitamin C, potassium, folic acid and fibre. Chia seeds are high in vitamins, nutrients, … Continue reading Strawberry Banana Date Smoothie Bowl

Pear and Pecan Loaf

This loaf is easy to make and so tasty. This is a yummy way to use up any extra pears you have at home. The Pear and Pecan complement each other so well. It is great as a brunch or breakfast bread. The cinnamon and nutmeg take the flavours to another level. I chopped the pear into small pieces, but you can choose to grate instead. The Pecans are roughly chopped as I like to bite into bits of pecan. This does freeze really well. And can also be made into muffins. Ingredients Vegetable oil – ½ cup Caster Sugar … Continue reading Pear and Pecan Loaf
