Psalm 73:28a “But for me it is good to be near God.”
I take a break for this week from our study through the book of Numbers. I share something that we so well know of, but need to be reminded of often.

This is my 8yr old fur baby, Buzzbe, the resident toddler of our home. God made him to pour out love on us, give us never ending cuddles, make us laugh with his quirks and be by our side always. Buzzbe sits by my side always. He follows me everywhere, including being glued to the other side of the bathroom door as though I am going to be making a run for it through the bathroom window. He has his spot on my left when I sit on my favourite couch and if my son comes and sits next to me, occupying Buzzbe’s spot, he climbs over my son and squeezes himself in between and tries to get my son to move. The point is that His spot is right next to me and that is something he does not compromise on.
Buzzbe often reminds me of how I need to be with God. The best spot for me is to be as close to God as possible. And just as he follows me everywhere, so should I when it comes to God. When anything tries to rob him of his spot next to me, Buzzbe remains singularly focused on getting his spot back and then heaves a sigh and settles next to me and eventually snoozes. He makes me reflect, if I am that aware and focused to make sure that nothing comes in between God and me?
Is there anything right now in your life that is creating a bit of distance in how near to God you want to be? Don’t be passive about it and allow it to remain, but take those steps to claim your spot right near the Father.
James 4:8 “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”

God Bless.
Buzzbe is beautiful, and thanks for the sweet reminder to evaluate if there is anything creating distance between us and God. I like the idea of not being passive but rather active. God bless.

Thanks Heather. He knows he is a cutie, he uses those eyes to get us to share our food with him ๐ and get petted by many when out for a walk.

This so so special, Manu! I would love to sit and watch Buzzbe work his way back into his first place position next to you on your sofa. This is much like sibling rivalry๐ If only we would follow after God like that๐

It truly is like sibling rivalry. It make us laugh and then cuddle him when he does it. If only we would follow after God like that – yes ๐๐ฝ.

Manu, this is a lovely analogy about drawing near to God and the persistence to stay close.

I love this post, Manu!!!!!! Buzzbe is absolutely adorable and I love what you have shared with us here!!!! I am amazed how often God uses PQ to reveal things to me about myself, my sin nature and my walk with Christ. Now more than ever do we need to draw near to God. I needed to hear this today. You are loved, Manu!!!! ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐๐๐๐๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ

I’m constantly amazed at the things we can learn from pets & children. Only God could have designed things that way!

I love this post! Buzzbe is so cute and funny. Thank you for sharing a bit about him. And I really love the lesson here, on how we need to stick this closely to God, all day and every day. Itโs funny because the other day I thought about something similar with my dog. He is always listening to every move we make. Even if we are in a different room, he listens to see what we might do next. For example, If we get something from the refrigerator, he can tell if we get out something for him and then he will come in the kitchen. It made me think that we should listen that attentively to God. So when I read your post, I appreciated it all the more. Thank you for the reminder to do whatever we need to, to make sure we are drawing near to God and nothing gets in the way. Have a blessed weekend, my friend. ๐ฆ

I know exactly what you mean, Buzzbe appears in the kitchen too in a similar way and if I donโt pay him attention he rethinks his position making sure I see him in the new spot ๐. They are so funny, I love dogs as you can tell.

Awww Buzzbe is so cute (and loyal lol). He is a good reminder of how we need to be faithful to God, choosing to always stay close to Him. Sometimes there are things or people in life that try to draw us away from our faith in God but like Buzzbe, we must be intentional and insist on staying close to our Lord. Thank you Manu, seeing Buzzbe made my day! ๐ฅฐ

Thank you Dawn. Yes, there are things in life that draw us away but I hope to be intentional In being close to God and Buzzbe reminds me of that. God certainly has his ways of reminding us. Have a wonderful weekend ๐ค๐

Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts. I often tell people that it is no surprise that Dog is simply God spelled backwards… I often remember the Last Supper with the Apostle John laying against Jesus’ chest. That’s where I want to be.

God and dog , I have often thought of that reversed spelling. And yes that picture of Apostle John laying against Jesusโs chest is such a wonderful picture to keep in our minds about being close to Him.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend ๐

Buzzbe is so cute! Cute name as well. Thank you Manu for this wonderful message and reminder. Our fur babies do teach and remind us what our focus should be. We have two kitties that follow us everywhere as well and want to be snuggled right next to us. Every morning when I’m sitting up in bed doing my morning reading our little grey cat comes to sit in my lap and recieve her snuggles. ๐
I see you have two other posts there about buzzbe. One about pilates. I love doing pilates. I will have a read of that and the buzz be diaries. Have a blessed week Manu. ๐ ๐

What a cutie! It’s so easy to get used to space between us and God. Distractions are pretty much everywhere. It becomes normal to have some distance. But God is always in hot pursuit of us and our hearts. He is unrelenting in drawing us back to Him. God bless you and Buzzbe!

Heโs, it is quite easy to allow things to crop up in our lives that put space between God and us. I think being aware and intentional with it.

Hi Manu, Buzzbe is adorable! How did he get that name? You are so Godly that he knows to stick by you, and he can’t go wrong. That’s how your readers feel also! โค Great post and analogy. Happy Sunday. Off to church now.

Thank you Marla. We got the idea for his name from a Childrens animation that my son used to watch and love when he was little and when we got Buzzbe, we felt the name was just right for him.
And thank you for your kind words Marla. Appreciate it ๐ค๐.

Amen. Great pictures of your amazing dog and lovely story and analogy with our relationship with God. I have reflected on how busyness can rob us of time with God. This is even being too busy with โgood thingsโ like serving. If we are serving to the point where we are run down, exhausted and weary, chances are weโve lost sight of God and are no longer doing it to bring him glory, but for our own self glorification. This is a trick the devil uses because we will never often guess that being too busy, even in service to God can be a downfall. Bless you Manu. ๐๐พโค๏ธ๐

Thank you Anneta ๐ค. I couldnโt agree more with you. Being busy with good things can be quite deceiving. We think we are doing what the Lord wants us to but if it robs us of time to spend with God or even a pace of life that does not allow for us to be able to hear Him, that is not what God would want for us. I have learnt over time to say No to things in church to keep those healthy boundaries.

Indeed. Erroneous church doctrine can even cause unnecessary guilt and burn out. Been there with that and learnt the hard way. Thatโs the religious spirit. God is our help and our strong tower. ๐๐พโค๏ธ

Amen and Amen today I was studying the book of John 6 and reading your blog I am reminded of the verse that says…(I paraphrase)Jesus doesn’t drive away whoever God draws to Him because His purposes is to do the will of God the father and the will of God the father is that whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life ๐ cheers to Buzzbae He knows his position in your life and in Christ as well๐น
