Knowing God’s Compassionate Love

Psalm 103:11-14 “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; 14 for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.”

These verses depict the immeasurable nature of God’s love and forgiveness. The Psalmist uses the vastness of the heavens and the distance between east and west to emphasize the extent of God’s love and compassion towards those who revere Him. This striking portrayal of His love, forgiveness, and compassionate nature reassures believers of the depth of God’s care and understanding, encouraging them to approach Him with confidence in their fraility and weariness to trust in His mercy and seek His presence in every aspect of their lives.

The mention of God’s knowledge of our frailty and humanity in verse 14 serves to remind us to not beat ourselves about our own limitations and imperfections, but to take them to God, because in our weakness His strength is made perfect (2 Cor 12:9).

God, in His infinite wisdom, understands our human nature and is compassionate towards us in our weaknesses and struggles. This recognition that we are but dust is a humbling realization that God, the Creator of the universe, intimately knows us and cares for us deeply, even in our most vulnerable state.

Friend, if you have been feeling weary or have been coming up against your limits, remember that God’s love for you is boundless and His posture towards you is not punitive but compassionate and protective. Run to Him, draw strength from Him to persevere, endure and run your race well.

God Bless.
