Prayer based on Hebrews 12:2

Hebrews 12:2 “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

This one single verse that I dwelt on, spurred a simple prayer one morning during my quiet time. This verse was a powerful reminder and assurance of what we have in the Lord. It was written from a personal perspective, but as you read it the ‘I’ ‘me’ and ‘my’, it speaks for how each of us would commune with the Lord and I hope it blesses you.

Lord, I bring my focus to you when my heart thunders with worry. I bring it with confidence knowing that you hear me, love me and are for me. You are the source and sustainer of my faith. When I fix my eyes on you, my circumstances do not overwhelm me for I am reminded that you are bigger than all of them. Your words from scripture remind me of the value you place on me, the joy that you receive in having a restored relationship with each of your children, which includes me. You endured the cross so that I can be restored to you – Oh! how much you did for me, how much you love me – I kneel in humility and place my trust at your feet. You were victorious and now sit at the right hand of God – all powerful, all knowing, supreme but also my intercessor (mediator). There is only one mediator between God and man and that is Christ himself (1 Timothy 2:5). You are my example, showing me how it is done (pioneer) and my encouragement, sustaining me to follow you (perfector). Thank you Jesus, I bow down and worship you. Amen.

God Bless.

  2. Amen πŸ™πŸΎ. And so we triumph in him, knowing that he not only died for us, but is now seated in heavenly places, far above the principalities and power. The most amazing part is knowing that we are also seated with him in the heavenly realms. What an amazing reality. Blessings β˜ΊοΈπŸ™πŸΎπŸ’—
