The Lord’s Counsel and His Presence

Psalm 16:7-8 “I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

David looks to the Lord and rejoices about the assurance he has in the guidance that comes from Him. The Lord’s words are so embedded within David’s heart that it instructs him in the quiet of the night when the challenges of life’s storms can roar louder. In the forefront of life’s circumstances, David keeps his focus on God and rests on the Lord’s counsel. This verse also expresses the closeness and availability of God, as David mentions of the Lord being at his right hand. David rejoices because the stability of God as his foundation causes him to not be shaken.

Just as David received strength from the knowledge of God’s presence with him, may we too rest in the truth that God is always with us (Emmanuel) and never far away.

2 Timothy 4:17 says “The Lord stood with me and gave me strength.”

May these words from David be a source of strength and comfort for any of you who need it. May they speak to your heart and serve as a powerful reminder that the Almighty, all powerful and faithful God is right beside you and that is why you will not be shaken. May these truths give you rest and hope.

God Bless.

  1. I love the reminder that God is always with us. I was reading Psalm 27 this morning, and I really appreciated the way David said in verse 9 “You have always been my helper.” I’m so thankful His presence is always near, and He is always helping us. Even if we can’t see it, we can hold onto these truths. Thank you for the encouragement, Manu! I needed this today. ♥️
