Power in Whom we call upon

“In this world we will have trouble but take heart I have overcome this world “ (John 16:33)

This powerful verse reminds us that what we know and in whom we place our faith gives us the strength to fight through the challenges that we face. It is what sets us apart. We have the power to shift things with prayer, not because our prayers are great but because of the one we call upon. There is power in prayer. And that is why the enemy always tries to distract us or dissuade us from spending time in prayer.

Prayer is powerful because of who we are calling upon. It is the name of Jesus that makes the enemy quake, that enables us to stand firm in the strength that He provides. God is the mighty and sovereign, He hears every utterance and cry. Call to Him with trust and confidence knowing that He is with you and for you. Don’t give up. God may be silent but He is never indifferent. He loves you and is working out all things for good. He loves you and the one you are praying for more than anyone else. Trust in Him.

Make space in your everyday for God, not only to lay your requests and worship Him but also take the time to wait and listen to what He is saying. Let the Holy Spirit speak to your spirit, partner with Him and follow His leading. And praise Him through all circumstances, through the valleys and the mountain top seasons of life.

Let your position in Christ always be accompanied by a posture of prayer. Amen 🙏🏽

God Bless.

  1. True, prayer is part of our fight in spiritual warfare. It is one of our weapons in fighting the enemy and in gaining victory. Thank you for this great reminder, Manu. You always bless and uplift my spirit whenever I read your post. Have a blessed day.

  2. A consideration on “praying without ceasing.” The constant stream of consciousness that “converses” with our own minds can be trained to redirect that conversation to the LORD. Not an easy thing to do, but it becomes praying without ceasing when we learn to do it. Still practicing, so keep me in your prayers as you are in mine.

  3. Such an encouraging post. Everything you wrote was spot on. And these words really struck a chord – “There is power in prayer. And that is why the enemy always tries to distract us or dissuade us from spending time in prayer.” I think we need to remind ourselves of this often. And when we remember we belong to the Lord and we are deeply loved, this helps us to come to God in prayer with confidence. Thank you, Manu. Many blessings to you. 🙏

    1. Thank you, my friend. I always find the enemy trying to stress us out and take our focus away from praying. we know that prayer is powerful, and it helps us shift our focus from our fears and anxieties to God. May we always remember that and keep turning to God in prayer. Blessings to you.

  5. This is a wonderful post, Manu! I believe in the power of prayer! We are blessed to have a God who welcomes communication and listens to our prayers. As you said, it is also important to be still and listen to what God replies/says. 🙏💗🌺

  6. Here in the States, we are all certainly seeing a great need for prayer! And I beleove God is answering what many have been praying for already–for this country truly to be united.

I love what you say about God maybe being silent but never indifferent! Praise God for that! I hope you are well, Manu.

    1. I see on the news but obviously not experiencing things like someone living there but I do get what you are saying. May many turn to God, be united in prayer. Over here too our previous Prime Minister was openly a Christian and he met with a lot of resistance and opposition and even though he did reasonably well in his term he was not voted back in the next election and the person in position now has been a disappointment in many ways. The tolerance for someone in faith is barely there.
      Take care my friend 💙

  7. Amen 🙏🏾. I was speaking with a colleague today about the power and importance of prayer. A minister came to our church on Sunday for a conference and she spoke about a time when God asked her to start praying at 5 daily. She said that for about two weeks, she felt nothing and she was sad because she felt like God wasn’t there. One day, after about a month, God showed up tangibly and she realised that he was always there, although she couldn’t sense him. He was after her obedience. What happened when we don’t feel or see the physical manifestation right away? Will we still continue to trust him? Bless you Manu. ❤️

    1. I love this. A reminder to keep going. Must say that often when we set time aside specifically like that for prayer and seeking God and we don’t feel anything, it can be quite discouraging to keep at it. Thank you for sharing this Anneta, this has urged me to keep being obedient in seeking Him.
