Quick and Easy Turmeric Rice

My son is not a big fan of rice and frowns if I say there is rice for dinner but he does NOT complain when I make this. This rice is quick to make and is an amazing accompaniment with a variety of dishes. It pairs well with Indian or Mediterranean dishes. This turmeric rice is my go-to on a weeknight especially. It is not only delicious but so easy to put together. The chicken stock adds a lovely flavour but you can use vegetable stock if that is your preference. I used Basmati rice, as we like the flavour … Continue reading Quick and Easy Turmeric Rice

Focused or Fuzzy?

As we navigate through life, we have our days of highs and lows. Days when we are strong in our faith and days when we struggle to trust. Days we feel victorious and days we feel discouraged. We all experience doubt at some point; will I get a job, will I be healed, will this relationship be restored, will I have enough to pay all the bills, will my loved one come to Christ? Doubt is defined as a lack of confidence or an uncertainty. Lack of … Continue reading Focused or Fuzzy?

Strawberry Banana Date Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are a great healthy option for breakfast. They are easy to make and so yum. You do not want your smoothie bowl to be too thin in consistency. The frozen strawberries and bananas give a thick and creamy texture. The dates add a hint of sweetness, they were soaked in hot water for about 5 mins to soften them up and that way they blend easily. The rolled oats add thickness and help you stay fuller for longer. Strawberries are healthy and rich in vitamin C, potassium, folic acid and fibre. Chia seeds are high in vitamins, nutrients, … Continue reading Strawberry Banana Date Smoothie Bowl

Tune in to God

1 Samuel 3:1-10 “The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions.  One-night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was. Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered, “Here I am.” And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So, he went and lay down.  Again, the Lord called, “Samuel!” … Continue reading Tune in to God

A Father Celebrates and a Brother Grumbles

This post is a continuation of the parable of the lost son, the first part of the parable can be found here. Today we will dig deeper into the father’s and brother’s response to the return of the prodigal son. The Heart of the father (Luke 15: 20-24) Verse 20 says “while the son was a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him, ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” 1. The father sees him from a distance – indicating that he watched and waited for his return … Continue reading A Father Celebrates and a Brother Grumbles
