Strength to Walk through the Valley

Acts 4: 29-30 “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

Peter and John were teaching and performing miracles in the name of Jesus. They were brought before the Sanhedrin and were threatened to stop doing both. The Sanhedrin wanted to go beyond just threatening Peter and John, but at that time they did not, because the people were praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had witnessed. So, Peter and John were given a stern warning and let go. They go back to their fellow believers, reported all that transpired before the Sanhedrin and upon hearing this, all of them raised their voices in prayer.

In verse 29, they say “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. What they ask for in prayer has challenged and encouraged me in the last few days. There are challenges in life that we wish we did not have to walk through, and at times the only way is through them. Reading these words from scripture has reminded me to ask for the strength to enable me to walk through what God has laid in front of me, along with a boldness that comes from knowing that He is walking with me through it all.

Friends, if you are going through something, look to Him to be filled with His Strength as you walk through your valley so that the mountain in front of you is moved rather than feeling crushed by the weight of it.

God Bless.

  1. Thank you for this, Manu. This brought me encouragement today. I appreciate the reminder that God is with us, and will strengthen us, as we walk closely to Him through the valleys of life. Sending hugs your way, and sending up prayers for you, my friend. 🤗🙏♥️

  2. Hey Manu🙋🏾‍♀️

Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools [common men with no educational advantages], they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus. (Acts 4:13)

My favorite part of Acts 4 is when the Sanhedrin has to (secretly) acknowledge that these men (Peter and John) had obviously been transformed from their (previous) unlearned state to these, now mighty men of Spirit w/Great Boldness, because they had been w/Jesus!! 💪🏽☄️🔥
Indeed We are changed/transformed in His Presence- Remain at the throne, as the Lord causes your storm to pass over. He is truly a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

  4. Good word, Manu. It makes me think of a book we read at daycare. “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.” The treck in this story is difficult. The words go, “We can’t go under it. We can’t go over it. We’ll have to go through it,” as they treck through all kinds of terrain. It’s much like our journey of faith. There are difficult bits and if we want to move forward with God we must ask for what we need. It is challenging. It’s very challenging. Thankfully God is patient and our times are in his hands as he strengthens us for what He’s laid before us.

    1. Oh, that little story of the bear hunt feels so relatable. We try for other ways but sometimes the only way is through it.
Amen 🙏🏽 to the fact that God is patient and strengthens us for what He has laid before us. The saying ‘Intimacy with the Lord deepens during adversity’, Holding onto walking closely with God is the best thing to do.

  5. Amen, Manu! It’s occurred to me that God often uses life’s challenges to move the mountains within our spirits–mountains like self-centeredness, self-sufficiency, pride, etc. They begin to crumble when we see how powerless we really are against insurmountable setbacks. Praise God he is with us on the journey, ready to bestow favor on the humble (James 4:6)! (Lord, help me grow in humility!)

  6. Amen 🙏🏾. Was this the same story when they prayed and the foundations of the house they were in shook? I feel that their bold prayers were shifting things in the atmosphere. Their boldness wasn’t about their own needs or comfort, but the establishment of the kingdom of God. As they sought first the kingdom, everything else was added. ❤️
