Let God’s Word be your priority
Psalm 119:12-16 “Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount
all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.”
The Psalmist here gives praise to God and speaks of a posture and willingness to learn from Him. And as he learns God’s word, he will recount it, it is ready on his lips, be it for praise, or prayer or for encouragement. The psalmist continues and speaks of his delight in God’s word. He savours and treasures it, it is not a routine of the day that he ticks off, but rather a way he finds joy, as time in God’s word realigns his heart towards God’s heart and draws him close to God. And the psalmist speaks with certainty of a choice he makes, that he will not neglect God’s word.
These verses are a great prayer to carry with us through the year. Hebrews 4:12 says that, “the word of God is living and active.” May we spend time in God’s word, not letting it just be an intellectual comprehension of what is written but letting it be absorbed into our hearts and minds. Feed on God’s word every day, ruminate on it, let it be the treasure you delight in, allowing it to guide, lead and inform how we live and move.
God Bless.
What a gift we have in the Word of God! Making it a daily habit brings so much peace and joy to our hearts. Thank you, Manu! I love this reminder 🙌♥️🙏

Beautiful. “…letting it be absorbed into our hearts and minds.” This sounds exactly like what Jesus would do. Bravo!

If I had to pack up and Go, I think I would leave the timbrel and lyre behind, but God’s Word would be the must have treasure, that must go with me. Lovely share! Bless You, Manu 💕

God’s Word is there for us to grasp and gift to others who do not yet know Him. Your suggestion to “feed” on God’s Word and let it be our treasure is a beautiful thought. Thank you. 🙂

Manu, I like your title – Exalt the Word of God! His Word gives us much to meditate and absorb. It is amazing how a verse opens our eyes and speaks to our needs and directly to our hearts.
Peace and blessings! 💖🐾🌺

Great verses to read and reflect on, I love the way you broke it down, and gave emphasis to the fact that the Psalmist found joy in the Word, not a task of to-do’s but joy!! Good stuff!!

What a blessings that we have access to the words in the bible, written in our own language and accessible to all. I’ve watched some historical films which showed how men like Martin Luther had to risk their life to allow people to have access to the bible. We are blessed in this generation and reap from the sacrifices of great generals who have gone before us. 🥰❤️🙏🏾
